What we collect, why, and the choices you have. Short version: we collect very little, we don't sell it, and we don't use advertising trackers.

What we collect
Information you give us
- Contact form: your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message.
- Newsletter: your email address.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs: like almost every website, our hosting provider records technical data such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These logs are used for security and to keep the site running.
- Your theme choice: if you switch between light and dark mode, your browser stores that preference locally (in localStorage) so the site remembers it. It never leaves your device.
We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. If we add privacy-friendly analytics or advertising in the future, we'll update this policy and, where the law requires, ask for your consent first.
How we use your information
- To reply to your messages and questions.
- To send the newsletter you signed up for. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- To protect the site from spam and abuse.
Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are your consent (newsletter, contact form) and our legitimate interest in running a secure website (server logs).
Sharing
We never sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the site, such as our web host and email provider, and only as needed to provide the service, or when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep messages for as long as needed to handle your request and for a reasonable period afterward, usually no longer than 24 months. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept according to our host's standard retention period.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to withdraw consent, and to object to certain processing. California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know and to delete; we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, email hello@dailysmokinggrill.com. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Links to other sites
Our pages link to manufacturers, retailers and sources. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and some links may be affiliate links (see our affiliate disclosure). A retailer may set its own cookies when you visit it.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK).
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and we limit access to the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
